current works 1 March, 2009 The interior restoration works to All Saints Church, East St.Kilda are now complete. A major undertaking and significant works have helped redefine the architecture of the church. The unearthing of remnant stencilling to the side walls gave cause to reintroduce this component to great effect and allowed for a balance to the ornately stencilled sanctuary. Identifying an W and G Audsley scheme allowed an extension of this designer work to be developed for the Lady Chapel, complementing and completing the decorated interior. The interior general wall colour is restrained and assisted by the introduction of an original colour match to the dado in a leather saddle colour. The stencilling throughout gives unity to what might previously have been described as a dislocation at the important chancel screen. The works are completed by the restoration of the floor finishes and made suited to a traditional church. |
