PROJECTS

Mechanics Institute, Williamstown Victoria

This tired building and hall had suffered considerably from age and a lack of some maintenance. The interior of the hall had been badly painted with some inappropriate colours.

Our brief was to reinstate the decorative scheme identifiable by some remnant sections. Complete with ox blood coloured dado, wood graining and the replication of the 1870s wall painted scheme, the interior now has a character and a style able to be appreciated and studied for its authenticity.

Working with grey tones the hall reflects the 'simplicity of Victorian painting schemes' and design and allows 'for a quiet and contemplative environment' in which to conduct the various activities of the time.
